Where is home?

Usually, I think of home as where all my stuff is. It takes me a little while of living somewhere before my room ultimately becomes my safe haven in my life, and I surround it with things that interest me, cool art, and mementos I've collected along the way. Right now all of those little trinkets and memories are in boxes on a truck on the way to Philadelphia. All of my belongings only filled about half of the moving company's smallest truck. I've lived here for a long time, this place has truly been my home. But so many things are waiting on the other side.

Is home where your family is? In that case it is split between my immediate family and the friend circle I have here in Sonoma county. If home is where you have most of your stuff, then my home is somewhere on it's way across the US. Is home where your heart is? Well then my heart is split up and spread all over this world. So many places have affected me and molded me into who I am. Either way, I feel a bit out of place right now, in transition, a stranger to both what I have called home and the new home that awaits me.

I think it may be awhile before I feel grounded again. But man, the unknown future sure seems interesting.
